Can An Inversion Table Help Me Grow Taller?

by Ian on October 24, 2010

You’d think that by hanging upside down on an Inversion Table would make you grow taller and for a short time it probably will.

When you hang upside down the space between each of your discs will get bigger allowing the disc itself to rehydrate and plump itself up therefore filling the gap.

So in theory you would get taller except once you come off the table and stand upright the spine becomes fully loaded once more and any increase in height is mostly completely negated.

However Inversion Therapy could help you maintain your current height by helping to prevent the shrinkage caused by gravity over your lifetime.

A better way to look taller is to correct any poor posture you may already have like slouching and looking down.

Pilates for example if practiced regularly will not only make you look taller but also helps to increase your strength, flexibility and total body stability as well as mobilising your spine.

So although Inversion Therapy has been shown to be beneficial it hasn’t been shown to be able to make people permanently taller.
